Dutch Gingerbread Tin Art Deco c. 1931
An authentic Dutch gingerbread tin from circa 1931, executed in the characteristic Art Deco style. The rectangular tin is decorated with stylized floral garlands and violas on a light background, with the inscription ONTBIJTKOEK (gingerbread) on the lid. The tin bears a strong resemblance to productions by the Nederlandsche Vereenigde Blikfabriek (Verblifa), possibly commissioned by Verkade. A beautiful piece of Dutch industrial history and a beloved collector's item.
Condition: Good condition for its age — slight signs of use and light patina consistent with an object over 90 years old, no dents or serious rust, lid closes well.
